  1. There are several holy wells in the parish. The most famous is Cillín-Thobair Tighearnáin. Many pilgrims visit this spring. Rounds are performed during the year.
    The well is in Errew five miles from Crossmolina and is dedicated to St. Tiernan the patron of the parish. The well was originally in the land of Mr Knox, a protestant landlord. He hated religion and being annoyed at seeing strangers in his lands polluted the well by filling it with stones. Next day, the well with it's sheltering bush were found in there present position.
