  1. In the parish of Crossmolina at Errew on the shores of Lough Conn are the ruins of an old Abbey. The foundation was laid by St. Tiernan, the patron saint of this parish in the sixth century. The doorway was curved and the windows were long but narrow. The image of a human head was carved on a stone in front of the altar. This image is now covered by ivy.
St. Tiernan is laid to rest in the Abbey.
