a split in each hole. About three weeks after they put manure on the ridges and spread it. Then they dig the "shoughs" and "set" the potatoes. When the stalks are up and fit for moulding they dig the shoughs and mould them again.
    This is called "lapping"
Other people who have very bad land turn "Feríbhín". They scraw the "shough" in on the ridge and leave the heart of the ridge green.
Then they spread the manure and leave the splits. Then they "set" them with a "shovel". When the stalks are up and fit they dig the "shoughs" and mould them again with a shovel.
