There was a parish priest in Moygownagh about eighty years ago whose name was Fr. Cawley. When he would go to a station house he would sit down and talk to the people and take out his pipe and start smoking. He would give his pipe in turn to each old man and woman. He was a very pious and holy priest but handing the pipe to others was a custom at the time.
