    At length brave Michael Dwyer and his undaunted mem,

    At length brave Michael Dwyer and his undaunted men,
    Were sentenced o'er the mountains and tracked into the glen,
    The free state soldiers followed with ready blade and ball,
    And swore to trap the outlaws that night at wild "Imeál"
    The soldiers searched the valley and towards the dawn of day,
    Discovered where the outlaws the dauntless rebles lay,
    Around the little cottage they formed in a ring,
    And called out Michael Dwyer surrender to the king.
    Thus answered Michael Dwyer unto this house we came,
    Unasked by them who owned it they cannot be to blame,
    Let to those peaceful people unquestioned pass you through,
    And when they are placed in safety I'll tell you what to do.
    "Tis done" and now said Dwyer your work you must begin,
