    Shrove Tuesday
    This is the last day of Scraft. In olden times, a "dallóg" was put on the faces of girls who were marriageable and who were not married before that day. The Sunday after Shrove Tuesday was called "Domnach na Smut" because the girls, who were not married, used to be vexed as their faces used to be blackened with a weed called smut. The other people used to have some salt in their pockets to shake on these girls so that they would
