    the cows and tied it round her own waist. She did this in order to have all her neighbours butter for the coming year.
    If butter can't be got off the churn, a kindled coal should be put under the churn and quenched with holy water. If this is done the butter will immediately gather on the churn.
    Before creameries came into use butter could not be got off milk in some districts.
