    Long ago people used to make oaten meal cakes and Indian meal cakes and they used to bake them on griddles and they used to bake enough at a time to do them for three days.

    Long ago people used to make oaten meal cakes and Indian meal cakes and they used to bake them on griddles and they used to bake enough at a time to do them for three days.
    On a "set" day such at Christmas day or a day they would have men working, they would buy a stone of flour and make a cake of it.
    They baked oaten meal cakes on a [?] and theyh made the oaten meal cakes by mixing the oaten meal with (with) water.
    Long ago people had a handmill called a quern where they used to grind corn and make oaten meal.
