    There was a man in Gurteen called Loftus.

    There was a man in Gurteen called Loftus.
    This man had a field sowed near a lake.
    When the graft came up it used to be eaten every morning when he would get up.
    This night he made up his mind to see what was eating the graft.
    He went out to see the graft early in the morning and he saw a lot of horses eating the graft. Loftus caught one of them that was a mare and he brought her home.
    She had seven foals for the man.
    One day he was harrowing and he brought the horse to drink to the lake.
    Every sup she would drink she would very nearly dry the lake.
