  1. Old Song

    One morning I carelessly rambled...

    One morning I carelessly rambled
In order to meet with some game
I heard a most curious contention
Between a farmer & draper by trade
    II
The farmer he was in a bustle
Saying ya Cuckle, you fool & you knave
Why should this lady be for you intended
To live in a shop poor a bare
    III
[?] said the draper 'til better to have her be with me
For I'll dress her in silks & fine shawls
Then be trudging with you in a farm
Feeding your pigs & your calves
    V
Says the farmer I keep beef & bacon
I have servants to wait at my call
I have all things on hand for the season
And plenty of wstock on my farm
    V
They fought with a pair of Shillelaghs
'Till both of their weapons broke
And this lady was still on him gazing
To know who was best on the stroke
    VI
They got hold of the waists of their breeches
And the draper was forced to give o'er
And the farmer embraced his fair lady
And immediately made her his own
