  2. 6. The robin builds her nest in a ditch and lays four eggs. She never eats anything until twelve o'clock on Good Friday in honour of Our Saviour's death. When a robin comes to the door it is the sign of rain.
    Some people say that when the birds are fat in October that the winter will be very cold.

  3. 7. The cuckoo is the sign of Spring. It never makes a nest of its own, but lays its eggs in the nests of other birds who hatch and feed the young cuckoos
