  1. Saturday is an unlucky day to move to a new house. The old people had a saying "that Saturday's flit is a short sit".
    Wednesday is a lucky day for getting married. Friday is a lucky day to start work, such as ploughing, harrowing, or digging potatoes. There are certain sayings about days which are lucky for a child to be born.
    Monday's child is fair of face,
    Tuesday's child is full of God's grace,
    Wednesday's child is merry and glad,
    Thursday's child is sour and sad,
    Friday's child is loving and giving,
    Saturday's child must work for its living,
    And the child that is born on the Sabbath day is bright and bonnie, good and gay.
