- Old folks talk of the wind storm that was in the year 1839. This storm did a lot of damage in our district. It blew hay straw and flax through the country on the farmers. It knocked down trees in different parts of the country. It knocked down houses and left the inhabitants homeless.
These was a thunder storm about 18 1/2 years ago. It was a big thunder storm accompanied by a torrent of rain. It started at 9 o clock in the morning and it lasted until 3 o'clock in the evening. There were big floods out and there were a lot of cattle lost in these as well as the number killed by lightening. In low-lying lands typical of our district there were a lot of cattle and sheep carried away with the flood. There was also a big thunder storm in September(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
