- I live in the townland of Fartagh. It is said that it got its name from a Chieftain who lived there long ago. It is situated on the border of Meath. There are about seventeen families living in the townland. The most common names are Farrely and Bennett. There are not as many houses in it as there were in olden times. Most of the present-day homes are labourers' cottages. The land is very good in places and the chief crops raised are potatoes, wheat and oats. No woods nor lakes are to be seen in Fartagh but there is one small bog. There are not many old people living in the townland now. Some of them can speak Irish and are very good at telling stories.
