- People say that if the sun goes down red in the evening the next day will be fine. A ring around the moon is the sign of rain. There is a saying that a rainbow in the morning is the shepherds warning, but a rainbow at night is the shepherds delight. South, South-West and West winds bring the most rain to this district. North wind in Summer is a sign of good weather, and in Winter it is a sign of snow.
Whenever the sea-gulls come in through the country is it the sign of a coming storm, because there is a storm at sea when they leave the coast. When crows fly low and remain picking in the fields, the people say a rain storm is near. When a dog eats grass it is a sign of rain. When the wind blows the dust off the road it is another sign of rain.
