- When Knocknaman is over-hung with clouds it is a sure sign of rain but when Knocknaman, that is the hill east of Kinnitty, is seen clearly a fine day is expected and usually follows. The floors and the walls in some houses in Kinnitty at times are covered with moisture then a spell of fine weather follows.
When the sun shines very brightly early in the morning some rain is expected during the day.
A halo seen around the moon indicates a storm.
When the stars are seen glittering in the sky very brightly it foretells frost.
