  1. The nearest hedge-school to Kinnitty village, of which I have heard, was in the Townland of Tulla about five miles south from Kinnitty.
    A school was taught by a Mr Duncan here in Kinnitty village in the Townland of the Walk. He held the classes in his own front room. The pupils who attended regularly became very fine scholars. A son of one of his pupils is to-day living in the very house where Mr Duncan taught. It is called "The Portico" and is situated in the Main Street.
