  2. In common with other places throughout the land, the hand of the despoiler ruthlessly played havoc with Columcille's and Kieran's Shrines in Inch Mor. There is an interesting story told of the bell which was taken away at this time by the invaders. In some time after, the story goes, the bell came back through the air ringing on its flight, and once more hung in the monastic tower on the island. A second invasion and destruction occurred and the bell was removed to Ulster, but lo and behold,
