    Ballinamuck 4 September 1798
    VI
To Ballinamuck they marched that night,
The pride of all the land,
And nobly fought there next morn,
    With Humbert in command.
Out from the graves of that martyred sod
    Their spirits ever look
    For liberty and freedom's sun,
    To shine around Ballinamuck.
Composed by Patrick Flood, Cloncoose, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford
Written by Michael Finnegan. Std VI
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
  2. Local Poets
Composed by Patrick Higgins, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford
You sturdy tillers of the soil
    That fertilized the barren sod
And made it yield by sweat and toil
Good fruits which were the gifts of god
But these good fruits were not their own
For the improvements that you made
But tested muscle blood and bone
And caused the bloom of life to fade
