  1. There is a man in this town named Jack Mulry who can cure Yellow Jaundice by boiling the bark of a certain tree in milk. He gives the milk which is now a yellow colour to the patient and it cures him almost immediately. A boy named John Cooney who lives in Moigh about half a mile from Ballymahon, can cure ringworm by rubbing a worm on it. He keeps the worm in a box and rubs it on the ringworm twice a week until it disappears. He is a seventh son. A woman named Lizzie Nolan who lives in Brannigan can cure warts by rubbing a penny on them, and giving the penny to the patient which he has to give to the first poor person he meets, and soon the wart will disappear. No money can be given in payment for any of these charms or they will not work. People who have toothache get a frog and touch him to the tooth which it paining, it is thought then that the frog will take the toothache and the patient will be cured. Some people who have toothache if they are at a grave and they see a tooth, which had belonged to some person who was buried there, touch
