  1. Local Marriage Custom(e)s.
    Marriages generally take place before Lent and Advent. Matches are sometimes made in this district. Money or land or stock is sometimes given as dowery to the bride by her parents. It is usuall when the bridegroom and bride are leaving the chaple to shake confetti or rice over them. Another custom is to tie an old boot to the back of the car for good luck. Wedding feast is held at the brides home after the wedding. Days of straw boys are over. There is a custom kept in this district that the bride and bridegroom go home a different way than they came. Another custom which is also kept to put a piece of a brides wedding under your head and you would dream on it who you were going to be married to. There is an old saying about the days on which marriages
