  1. Long ago the people of this district had very queer ideas on marriages. It was the custom that people should be married on Wednesday. Matches were made long ago. If the man's assets were not equal to the lady's the marriage would not take place. In many houses marriages took place. All weddings were held after dinner long ago. At wedding breakfasts the bridegroom helps the bride to cut the wedding cake.
