- Potatoes are sown in February and March. The early varieties are dug in the end of June, and July.
First of all the farmers has to plough the ground and make drill; stable manure is put into the drill and the potatoes are sown about twelve to fifteen inches apart. Then the drills are closed. When the stalks are about to rise inches above the ground they are sprayed with bluestone to prevent the blight from getting at them. When the blight gets on them they finish growing and they is a great loss to the farmer.
