The chimney of the house was made of wattles, and some sort of sand, brown clay.
The windows of the houses were very small. Some windows had no glass in them. They put boards across them when they had no glass. The floors of the houses were very rough. The floors of the houses were not nice and smooth like the floors in the houses nowadays. When a hole would come in the floors they would get stones and clay, and fill it.
The lights the people used long ago were rush-candles. They were made from grease, and rushes. The candles were made in this way. They used have a pot of grease made from the lard of a pig down on the fire. When it was melted they used dip the rushes in the grease, and it used to stick to them.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
