- When people are taking anything to the fair in Nenagh before they enter the town they have to give money - sixpence per animal for cattle, and a penny per pig. This is called "toll," or "custom money."
When an animal is sold the man who sells the animal has to give "Luck Money," to the man to whom he sells it. Sixpence is generally given for a sheep, a shilling for a pig, and two shillings for cattle and horses.
All the fairs are the same, locally, A couple of years ago there were some of the fairs more important than others. Those were held on the twenty-fourth of April, fourth of September, and the tenth of October. The sheep fairs are held on the same days as the cattle fairs
