- Long ago the boys, and girls wore no boots in the winter or summer.
They used to wear no boots saving the hay or cutting the corn. Children go in their bare feet yet in the summer.
There was a shoemaker in Killard whose name was Kelly. He made boots and clogs, but he never made shoes. There is a small piece of the walls of the house in which he worked, standing still.
When he took the boots to the market he bought enough leather to keep him working to the next market.
