    priest. All the parents of the children that were going to the school turned against the priest and they took their children from the national school and formed a school of their own in their old masters home which was situated just up to the school wall.
    They used no jotters at the time they wrote on slate with slate pencils. They had ordinary blackboards and they wrote on them with chalk
    There were also teachers going around the district teaching lessons. They were called "Poor Scholars." They stayed about two months with every family.
    No Irish was learned at any school.
