  1. The local roads are known by the townland which they pass through. These roads lead off the main road to other towns and villages. The road that leads to our house was made in the year 1912-13. In the making of the Knockavorheen road there was a man killed his name was David Mahony.
    The rates of pay in that road was 12s per week. The present generation cannot give any details as to the road making during the famine period.
