    The love for education was always foremost in the hearts of the Irish people. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries when education was forbidden by the law of the land schools were to be found under the shadow of the hillsides. Soon these became known as "Hedge Schools".
    The building used as a school was generally an unused farmers house or one for the purpose, with a thatched roof and mud walls. Though they were no engineers concerned in those structures
