    called Turners Cross and it got its name from a turner that lived there about seventy five years ago.
    In the days of yore the food was very poor. The three meals a day consisted of potatoes and milk. the people started work at about seven o'clock and had their breakfast at about nine o'clock. The had their dinner at about to o'clock and their supper before they went to bed.
    In the winter they could only work with the daylight. Then they would retire to a barn where they would cut farge or thresh corn until they had given an honest days work. The only time they had meat was at Christmas when they would kill a cow. This meat, they would eat while fresh: then they would salt it, and what they would have left after Christmas should do for the remainder of the year. the only time they ate eggs was on Easter Sunday. These they used to eat because it was an old Irish custom, following the long fast of lent. At that time the tables were hanging from the walls and after meals they were hung up again. They were known as the hanging tables. Before cups were used the people had only
