- Bird Lore
From day to day we see a good many birds flying around. The birds we see often are Thrush, Swallow, Robin, Blackbird, Cuckoo, Crow, Jack-daw, Pigeon, Hawk, Magpie, Yellow Hammer, Curlew, Gold-finch, Snipe, Grey-plover, Seagull, Patridge, Pheasant, Peacock, Crane, Sparrow, Sky-lark, Starling, Owl, Corncrake, Wren, Chaffinch, Canary.
It is said if a sparrow flies low it is a sign of bad weather. The Jack-daw builds her nest in chimneys and bushes. Her eggs are blue.
The canary is a sage bird. The sky-lark builds her nest in long grass or in a furze.
