  1. Prayers to be said in bed.
As I lie down on my right side,
I pray to God to be my guide,
If any evil thing comes near me,
The blessed Virgin will watch over me,
As there are four corners on my bed,
There are four angels on them spread,
    Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
Two at my feet, two to watch,
Two to pray, and two to bear my soul away,
If I die before I wake,
I pray to God my soul to take.
    Amen.
