"Bernard Quinn's FLounders" By Edward Owens N. T. native of Cloonfad
I On a Thursday very lately I got orders to prepare,
For the market some good flounders that
My mother had to spare.
The planting of potatoes at the time
Were drawing nigh.
I made up my mind to sell them
As the prices were so high.
The potatoes then I sorted from a very decant crop with the small ones on the bottom and the big ones on the top
Quick I packed them up and tied them with the little knots of straw.
And nicer bags of seed potatoes I'm sure you never saw.
Then my jennet I got ready and I packed my little load
You'd imagine she was dancing with the way she tipped the road.
II
Quick we passed out mules and asses
Soon we had arrived in town
Took our station in the shambles where
our burdens we threw down.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
