  1. The matches played locally were between Curry and Sooey which were played at Coolaney.
    Eight men played on each side.
    The match was simply between town's.
    The players were dressed with togs coloured red and green.
    Goal posts were used.
    Hurling was played in the district in former times.
    The hurlings used were sticks with a camán on the bottom of it.
    These were of a round shape about four feet long made of wood.
    The Curry's were the famous {runners?] long ago.
    The other out door amusements were hand ball, running weight throwing
