  1. There was a family named Driscolls in Cork.
They had one son by the name of Tadhg who was not able to work.
One day they were at a fair they bought a cow, and the father and mother and Tadhg were to have a cup of tea in a shop.
Tadhg's mother sent him up to bring the cow and tie her outside the door.
He went up to bring down the cow.
On his way up he met a piper.
He forgot about the cow and began to listen to the piper.
In two hours he had learned two tunes.
They were surprised when they saw Tadhg was not coming.
The father went up and asked what was keeping him there.
Tadhg said he wanted to learn a few tunes and that they would be better to him than the cow.

Tadhg went away and walked as far as Bantry.
He went along and saw Gipsies sleeping against a fence.
    Beside them lay a van.
Tadhg peeped into the van and saw a goat's skin.
He stole it and put it inside his coat and ran as far as Glenbeigh.
There took it out and put it on.
He sang a few songs and got so much money that he had to take off his shoes and put the money into them.
He went on until he came to a house in a wood.
He looked in and saw thieves counting money.
He stooped down and put on
