  2. Shone Burns was famous for his strength. It is said that he did not know his own strength. There was a police sergeant in Abbeyfeale and he often boasted of what he would do to Shone Burns. There was a famous character living near Abbeyfeale who was known as the Rabaire. When the Rabaire got drunk he was very cross and noisy.
    One day there was a fair in Abbeyfeale and Shone made the Rabaire drunk. The Rabaire went around the fair and he was very noisy. The sergeant arrested him. When they were going to the barrack Shone and he asked the sergeant to let Rabaire go and that he would take care of him.
    The sergeant said he would arrest Shone too. So he caught Shone to bring him along. Shone went with him till they came within a hundred yards of the barrack. Here there was a pool of dirty slimy water. Suddenly Shone caught the sergeant as a dog would
