  1. Shops were common in olden times. People had to go to the town to make purchases. Buying and Selling was carried on after mass on Sundays. Butter and sugar, and tea, and all articles were sold after mass.
    Money was given for goods. It was unlucky to transact business on Mondays and Fridays. The markets were held in town. They are still held yet. The pedlars still come round yet.
