  1. Cromwell was an English general. He was a very severe general in the English army. The Irish did not like him because he made them obey him and severe laws. On several occasions he put the Irish out of their houses and he left them there to die on the hillsides and along the roadsides. They were often starving for months and had nothing to eat except blades of grass. One time he sent his soldiers to put out a poor widow out of her house and her small children and on Christmas morning (and ) they were all found dead in three feet deep of snow.
