  1. "The race for the bottle" was a custom that prevailed at Weddings in Bailieboro District for many years. After the cermony in the Church the bridal party travelling on side-cars, proceeded to a neighbouring town where they partook of refreshments, both liquid and solid, and enjoyed (themself) themselves in a manner befitting such a joyous occasion. When evening came they proceeded towards the home of the bridegroom, singing, cheering and playing music and people working in nearby fields cheering loudly as they drove past. When they came
