  1. About the year 1840 there resided in the townland of Tierworker, about three miles from Bailieboro, a young man named Patt Gargan. He assisted his brother, Michael, at the shoe-making trade, shooting was his favourite pastime, and one morning while on one of these expeditions, he observed an abnormally large hare on the summit of the Tieworker Mountain. A quick shot and a sure aim, he fired at the hare but missed and pussy succeeded in making her escape. He visited the mountain early
