  1. Marriages take place oftenest before Lent and Advent in my district. Some people say that it is unlucky to get married in the month of May, and that on week days Wednesday is the best.
    Here is an old rhyme which is very often said before marriages -
    Monday for wealth,
    Tuesday for health,
    Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    And Saturday no luck at all.
    After a marriage the wife's father gives either money livestock or an annual income to the bridegroom as
