    Protestants used to bury.
    This town is mentioned in an old song made about fifty years ago called 'Bailies old borough that stands in the Vale'. The song began 'Mid Cavan's tall highlands,
    Blue lakes and green is lands'
    The song was in praise of Bailieboro and many characters living in the town were mentioned in it. There were three doctors, J Lundie, R Ryan and R Mc Elwaine living in the town. A line referring to them being
    'There's Lundie M D with Ryan JP and last but not least our old friend Mc Elwaine. Another verse had reference to
