    who sells the animal gives back money to the buyer. This money is called a "luck-penny". When a horse is sold the halter is given away with the horse. The animals when sold are marked with "keel' on the back. The two great fairs of the year are the 14th of May and the 12th November.

  2. The local fairs are held in Cavan and Ballyjamesduff. They are always held in towns. Buyers did transact business at farmer's houses and at cross-roads. This is still done. Fairs were held in Crosskeys and Stradone, but they have been discontinued. They were discontinued because people stopped going to
