  1. About fifty years ago there lived in the townland of Stragella a man named Bernard Smith better known as Barney Loughlin. He was a clogmaker by trade.
    He lived in a little thatched house beside Drumcrave school. The house belongs to Mr Mick Lee Behey.
    Long ago there was a class of shoe made and worn in the district known as a "thong." It was made out of untanned hide.
