Sometimes the people gathered in parties to houses and scutched it themselves sheets and other clothing were made locally There are about three spinning wheels in this district. Socks are knitted in this district. Some people spun the wool themselves and dyed it any colour they liked. There are also cures in this wool.
- There are many dressmakers in this part of the district. There are five, there is Mrs Gilheany and Mrs Cassidy of Drumcullin, Mrs Kerr, Mrs Green and Mr Darcy of Swanlinbar. The men are called tailors and the women are called dressmakers.
The tailors make trousers, coats, waistcoats and overcoats and the dressmakers make frocks, pinafores, shirts, wedding outfits and other underwear. They nearly all sew on machines.
