    On our farm at home is a field called the fairy field. On a moonlight night fairies were said to be seen kicking football in it. A man named Glavin lived in his house in this field. The fairies were always tormenting him. One night he met a fairy funeral in this field. After this he had to leave his house and go to America.
    There is another field at home called Troy's field. A woman named Mary Troy lived in an old house here. She had a small garden in which she grew potatoes. It is said that one day while digging in the garden she found a crock of gold.
    Near Cadamstown is a place called Castlefield. It was called so because there was a castle there owned by the O'Carroll's. There is nothing to be seen now but a few heaps of stones.

  2. In every part of the country different marriage customs are observed. In this district people always get married on Wednesday. It is said "Monday for health." "Tuesday for health." "Wednesday the best day of all." "Thursday for losses." "Friday for crosses" and "Saturday no day at all"
