  1. In the month of June the bloody year of '98 three young unlettered peasants were executed at the corner of Ballycumber village but in their own simple way there were indeed heroes. When Father John Murphy of Boolavogue was sweeping Wexford a group of men were gathered in a house a few hundred yards from Prospect House which was occupied at that time by a magistrate and land owner named Holmes. There were discussing current events and the main topic was the United Irishmen. Conway who was a butler to Holmes was asked if he would dispatch his employer when in the act of shaving him.
