- There was an old road in the townland of Corr, connecting the present road from Ferbane to Athlone with the Rashina road. It runs through the farm of Mr. John Claffey of Rashina. It is cut out of the hill in some places to a depth of twenty feet. It is said the Parson who lived in the house of Mr John Hennessey, Corbeg, had the new road opened to avoid the steep hill of the old one. The place is called "Corr" (a turn) likely from the turn in the road. The old road followed the track of the present old road through the townlands of Corr, Castleneagh and Togher till it crossed the present road from Ferbane to Moate. It then led through the village of Loughil to the old Pilgrim Road to Clonmacnoise and the road to Athlone.
A road runs through the bog between the townlands of Straduff and Derica. It was used as a pass for horses hunting, when the Kings of Ballylin followed the chase.
A large park on the farm of Mr Thomas Daly is still called the Deerpark. it is in the townland of Corr. Deer used to be kept there for hunting. It was surrounded by a very high mason built wall of limestone. Most of the wall has fallen.
