The duck-house was never used again + the ruins can still be seen.
A "hair-raiser" was told by one Ned Byrne ex-soldier who was care-taker in Scallan's house.
He was alone there with a greyhound.
At the small hours there was tremendous tuairt. The grey-hound (which is supposed to see ghost) burst open the bed-room door + jumped inside him in the bed. Poor Ned was terrified + rushed out never to caretake there again.
This Ned Byrne is not very long dead.- Informant
