    They also used to use perches that they caught in the Shannon, and they used to use onions and leeks They usen't to eat late at night they used to eat none from four or five o clock in the evening.
    They had the same kind of food for every occasion only for New Years eve they used to make pancakes.
    The kind of vessels they used before cups were "Noggins"

  2. In olden times people had very different ways of living even as regards food. People ate only three meals per day the food consisting of oaten bread and porridge and milk.
    For dinners the people would all sit round a large pot of boiled potatoes and each would receive from the woman of the house a large wooden mug of butter milk
